Privacy Policy

Laurie’s Love, Inc. (“Laurie’s Love”, “we”, “us”) is a Florida not for profit corporation and 501(c)(3) organization. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have.

It applies to laurieslove.org, laurieslovelegacyrun.org, the Laurie’s Love app, our events, and the emails and text messages we send.

Information we collect

Information you give us:

• Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number, city and state, and the company or organization you represent.
• Messages you send us through a form, by email or by text, including sponsorship inquiries, support requests and stories you choose to share.
• App account and profile details you choose to add, such as your diagnosis, treatment, age and location, which the app uses to match you with other members.
• Event details, such as which event you are interested in or registered for.

Information collected automatically when you use our websites:

• Device and browser details, your approximate location based on IP address, the pages you view and the links you select.
• The page or advertisement that brought you to us, including campaign tags in the page address.
• Cookies and similar technologies, described below.

Information from others:

• Event registration and donation details from the services that process them for us, such as RunSignup. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.

How we use information

• To answer your questions and requests.
• To send the event details, reminders and updates you ask for, by email or text message.
• To run our events, including registration, packet pick-up and sponsor recognition.
• To provide the Laurie’s Love app and connect members with one another.
• To process and acknowledge donations and sponsorships.
• To understand how our websites and advertising perform, and to improve them.
• To keep our services safe and to meet our legal obligations.

Text messaging

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, we use it to send the messages described in our Mobile Terms.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except with the service providers that deliver the messages for us.

You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our websites use cookies and similar technologies to remember your choices, measure visits and understand which pages and advertisements are useful. We use Google Analytics for measurement and the Meta pixel to measure and improve our advertising on Facebook and Instagram.

These providers may collect information about your visits to our websites and to other websites over time. You can limit this through your browser settings, through the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and through the ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only:

• With service providers that work for us, such as website hosting, email and text delivery, contact management, event registration, payment processing and analytics. They may use the information only to provide those services.
• With other members of the Laurie’s Love app, to the extent you choose to show your profile and messages in the app.
• With event partners when it is needed to run an event, for example a timing or registration provider.
• When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Laurie’s Love, our members or others.
• With your consent.

Health information

Laurie’s Love is a peer support community. We are not a health care provider and we do not give medical advice. Health details you choose to share with us or with other members are used to provide the service you asked for, as this policy describes.

Your choices

• Email: use the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
• Text messages: reply STOP to any message.
• Access, correction and deletion: email support@laurieslove.org to ask what information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. We will respond within a reasonable time.
• App: you can change or remove your profile details in the app.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, and for as long as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No website, app or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Our websites and app are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them without a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian registers children for our events. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Other websites

Our websites link to services we do not control, such as RunSignup, app stores and social networks. Their own privacy policies apply to what you do there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If the changes are significant, we will say so on our websites.
